Today’s images were mostly taken at the University of the South’s 3 overlook points. They were taken with my Nikon D5000 with a myriad of filters.

I went to Polly Crockett Days today in Cowan, TN. It turned out to be a rainy and cloudy, but it was a good trial of my new D5000. There are some pictures of some neat hit and miss engines, one powering an ice cream maker. This set also includes photos of the Cowan Train Museum.

I decided this script was a necessity since I’ve been arranging my photos based on date taken since I bought my first Canon point and shoot. After buying my Nikon 5000, I was disappointed to find the Nikon’s sync software did not break photos out into directories based on the date they were taken. Yesterday, I finally had time to sit down and code it up. This script should work on any platform and can work via either command line or via drag-and-drop. Simply give it one or more directories using either of those methods and it will sort the photos in each directory based on the “Image DateTaken” Exif field.

I finally took the plunge and ordered a Nikon D5000 DSLR this week. I’d been holding off buying one due to the recall on the first production serial numbers. After contacting Amazon and learning that they have received replacement stock, I made the order. I received it mid-day yesterday and have taken a few inexperienced test photos. I’ve included them below. I’ve done no post editing except for cropping. I must say, I am really impressed with this camera. I’m sure there will be more to come on this topic.
