Diversions

Diversions…from the ole grind.

Star Trek Grosses over $75 million in its first weekend.

According to BoxOfficeMojo Star Trek earned an estimated $76,500,000 in its first weekend.  That puts it above some totals of other Trek movies, already.  By comparison, Star Trek Nemesis only made $43,000,000 when it debuted in 2002 (Figures once again BoxOfficeMojo).  It is poised to easily become the highest earning Trek film yet.  Also of note,  Star Trek is now the highest earning film overall for IMAX theaters, beating out The Dark Night.

Casting Underway for the Star Wars Live Action Series

I hear today via http://www.aintitcool.com and MTV that casting has started on George Lucas’s Star Wars live-action series.  This series will cover the events between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.  For me this is great news.  I’ve never really cared for the animated ones being produced recently.  I’m really hoping the TV series is realized and has a chance to air.
